Goals.

So I received a questionnaire that asked me the following question: What is your goal for [each child's name] this year? Put me on the spot for just a second because I hadn't thought of individual goals for each child, but only goals for how I'd like this year to go as a unit. I thought I would note my answers so that I can reflect on them at the end of this year. [These are verbatim how I answered them on the questionnaire with only seconds to ponder.]

Faith: Faith has been in both a typical classroom and a gifted one. When surrounded by other gifted students she did a lot of comparing herself to her peers. At times this took a toll of her self esteem. Last year she was in a typical classroom and was top of her class and her self esteem skyrocketed. I'm hoping that this program will be the best of both worlds for her. That she can be challenged and learn at an accelerated pace but without the peer comparisons.

Cole: Cole has very distinct strengths and weaknesses at this point in his education, I hope that this experience will blur the lines between them.

Kate:  Being only a first grader, my only wish for Kate is that her educational fire be lit.
