Orientation.

Yesterday was our orientation. It was the first time we visited the facility where the kids will be going for 'Terrific Tuesday.' The brick and mortar classroom where they will work face to face with Dr. W. and their peers. More importantly it was the first time I got to put a face on Dr. W., with whom I had only previously spoken to over the phone. I half expected that orientation would make this task real and overwhelm me, but it didn't. If anything it reiterated to me that I had done my research, understood fully what I was getting into, and underlined that Dr. W. was indeed the right support for us. Done and done. So far the only thing that caused a moment of panic was the shipping notices from UPS telling me to expect 206.1lbs. of curriculum at my doorstep in two days. Gulp!

We did receive a slightly overwhelming calendar of the entire school year yesterday, which I immediately came home and organized into a more digestible Google calendar. It made the whole thing much less daunting. This is our September. This doesn't showcase our daily work but instead when the kids have 'E class' [where they attend class with Dr. W. online from home] with each child attending at a different time each Monday and our 'Terrific Tuesdays'. We will have to attend three Tuesdays a month because I have three grade levels. The yellow school holidays are the holidays reserved by the county but they are optional for virtual school students, in our case the kids will have to earn the day off by working a little ahead in the curriculum and staying on pace. I don't forsee me allowing them these two days off in September because I really want to establish a good pace in the beginning. Capish?

I also wanted to show you a sample of the kids daily schedule. This is an example of what will be required of them on a daily basis. This would probably scare a person who isn't use to juggling the demands of four children for the last five years, but to me it seems quite manageable.

T- 5 days. 5 days. five. FIVE!
