She's mastered the first pack of sight word flash cards and we just had to crack open the 'advanced' pack. I'm not sure what that means but it's probably good, right?

She Hasn't Gotten Much Face Time Around Here...

...but trust me she's awesome.

Testing, Testing, 1..2..3..

Faith and Cole took a couple of standardized tests back in September to determine whether or not they were on grade level in Math and Reading. (They could have completed tests on other subjects also, but since it was not required and I kind of already knew where they stood, I let them slide on those. Besides, subjecting Cole to tests is like bathing a cat.) After reviewing the manuscript on deciphering this chart, I concluded that Cole is on grade level in both subjects and Faith is on grade level in Math (her weakest subject) and advanced in Reading. If my teacher pals would like to decipher this thing further or feel that there is something else I need to know, feel free to inform me.

Write better.

When school first started Cole would often take up an entire page of his composition notebook with one question or sometimes one WORD. The handwriting curriculum he was given for this year only dealt with cursive, so I had to rectify the situation myself. I used a technique called "erase all your work and do it over because I am not accepting that." A couple of times of that and he was cured. You know where to send that "Teacher of the Year" award.

The Reading List | An Update and Revision.

Remember this post? Well, I really had the best of intentions and I thought I'd enjoy reading and rereading the classics. Yeah, not so much. I checked out a few from the library and I started them and then...

Interim Reports.

Friday we received our Interim Reports, and each one looked just like the other. We are all on pace in every subject but Art and Science. These were the subjects I skipped in the very beginning when we were working at such a slow pace and 6:00pm just seemed unreasonable. I have been somewhat slack about making those lessons up so we are behind. I have until the end of the semester to get caught back up. Therefore we are doubling up on Art and Science starting today. Werd.
